Not everyone grows up...

While in line at the post office the other day, a lady looks at Max chattering away and being super busy. After I asked Max for the 400th time to not touch the garbage, she looked at me, smiled, and with the best of intentions said, "don't worry- they all grow up eventually."

She obviously didn't know what I know. I wish I didn't know, but I do. Every single day I am reminded by the empty seat at the breakfast table and in the back of the van....

Not everyone gets to grow up.

So even though it makes me sad to pack away tiny rompers labeled "newborn," I am very grateful to be unpacking dresses and pjs marked 3 months.

Because I know... not everyone grows up...

It is so amazing how the simplest statements have such a different meaning(s) after loss and how you learn to appreciate all the things you took for granted with previous children. This post is short, but says so much.

Yes. Little comments like this get to me all the time. So innocent, yet bring so many emotions.

Thank you for sharing that today. I'm struggling with a new tantrum filled bed time routine two weeks before I have my second baby and I was actually stressing about it til now. Thanks for reminding me about the important things. Prayers for your sweet family.

Know the feeling...still want to make it so that children can NOT die before their parents. It is just too cruel to live each day missing that one special persona and noticing the empty spaces :( Thinking of you and Ellie as always!
